Obesity and Overweight

Overweight and obesity are defined as the increase in abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may lead to impair health. Body mass index (BMI) is used to classify overweight and obesity in adults by using simple index of weight-for-height. The BMI is calculated as a person's weight in kilograms divided by the square of his height in meters (kg/m2). The main cause of obesity and overweight is an energy imbalance between the amount of calories consumed and the calories expended.
